Unseen Help

There are many instances when our faith is challenged to the point of questioning whether the things we believe to be true are real or not.

We usually find ourselves in the midst of problems and challenges that are seemingly irresolvable and inescapable. This is similar to the story of Prophet Elisha’s servant, who saw the great number of Aram armies with their horses surrounding the city to put them captive because they were on the side of Israel. And Elisha prayed, "Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see." Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (II Kings 6:17)

This story happened in our lives many, many times over. Our fears overcame us in moments when we needed to be stronger, more encouraging, and most loving.

We have become dependent only on the help that we see while being at the very center of the surrounding aid that is unseen.

We are called to learn by heart that God may permit us to find ourselves in the middle of raging armies that make us feel threatened or perplexed, and we could encounter this in different forms, a few, or many times, in our lifetime. But by returning to the promise that God loves us, may our eyes be opened to see that our rescue is, in fact, larger than what causes us to fear and doubt.
